Day 2

Today are some verses from the old testament regarding false prophets.
Lesson 6 Day 2
1) Deuteronomy 18:18-32 (This is God speaking)
18) I will raise up a prophet from among their coutrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. 19) It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him. 20) But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. 21) You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word, which the Lord has not spoken?' 22) When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him.

2) Deuteronomy 13:1-5 (This is God speaking.)
1) If a prophet or a dereamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2) and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you saying, 'Let us go ager other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,' 3) you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out if you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4) You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him and cling to Him. 5)But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to seduce you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from among you.

3) Isaiah 28:7 (This is God speaking, by the way strong drink is mentioned 3 times in this one verse, do you think he is trying to make a point?)
And these also reel with wine and stagger from strong drink: the priest and the prophets reel with strong drink. They are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink; They reel while having visions. They totter when rendering judgment.

4) Micah 3:11
Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, her priests instruct for a price and her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord saying, 'Is not the Lord in our midst?' Calamity will not come upon us." The gold in this verse is Israel.

5) 2 Chron. 18
1) Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he allied himself by marriage with Ahab.
2) and some years later he went down to visit Ahab at Samaria.
3) And Ahab, king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat , king of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead:" And he said to him. "I am as you are, and my people as your people, and we will be with you in the battle."
4) Moreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Isael, "Please inquire first for the word of the Lord.
5) Then the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" And they said, "Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king."
6) But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not yet a prophet of the Lord here that we may inquire of him?"
7) And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. He is Micaiah, son of Imla." But Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."
8) Then the king of Israel called on officer and said,"Bring quickly Micaiah, Imla's son."
9) Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10) And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, "Thus says the Lord, 'With these you shall gore the Arameans, until they are consumed.'"
11) And all the prophets were prophesying thus, saying "Go up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king."
12) Then the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying, 'Behold the words of the phrophets are uniformally favorable to the king. So please let your word be like one of them and speak favorably."
13) But Micaiah said,"As the Lord lives, what my God says, that I will speak"
14) And when he came to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" He said. "Go up and succeed, for they will be given into your hand."
15) Then the king said to him, "How many times must I adjure you to speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?"
16) So he said, "I saw Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep which have no shepherd; and the Lord said, 'These have no master. Let each of them return to his house in peace.'"
17)Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"
18 And Micaiah said, "Therefore, hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.
19) And the Lord said,'Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this and another said that.
20) Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord and said, 'I will entice him.' And the Lord said, to him, 'How?'
21) And he said, I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' Then He said, 'You are to entice him and prevail also. Go and do so.'
22) Now therefore, behold the Lord has proclaimed disaster against you."
23) The Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah, came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, "How did the Spirit of the Lord pass from me to speak to you?"
24) and Micaiah said, "Behold you shall see on that day, when you enter an inner room and hide yourself."
25)Then the king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;
26) and say, 'Thus says the king, 'Put this man in prison, and feed him sparingly with bread and water until I return safely.'"'
27) And Micaiah said, "If you indeed return safely, the Lord has not spoken by me." "And he said, Listen all you people."
28) So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up against Ramoth-gilead.
29) And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you put on your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and they went into battle.
30) Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Do not fight with small or great, but with the king of Israel alone.
31) So it came about when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "It is the king of Israel," and they turned aside to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him, and God diverted them from him.
32) Then it happened when the captins of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
33)And a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel in a joint of the armor. So he said to the driver of the chariot, "Turn around, and take me out of the fight, for I am severly wounded."
34)And the battle raged that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chaiot in front of the Arameans until the evening; and at sunset he died.

Wow, what a battle! Not just of war, but of wills, of good vs. evil! But God will always win. <><

Isaiah 33:22

I thought this was so perfect for what I am studying this week Posted by Picasa

day 1

Lesson 6 chapter 2
Day one
1.)false prophets

Their Character:
they exploit, are greedy, unprincipled, unrighteous, daring, self-willed, like unreasoning animals, stains, blemishes, eyes full of adultry, they have gone astray, and are slaves of corruption

Their Lifestyles:
follows their sensuality, speak with false words, indulge in the flesh, have corrupt desires, despise authority, count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime, never cease from sin, entice unstable souls, have a heart trained in greed, speak arrogant words of vanity.

Their Doctrine:
introduce destructive heresies, denying the Master, do not tremble when reviling angels, they revel in their deceptions, forsake the right way, promising freedom.

Their End:
Swift destruction their last state being worse than the first.
2) a. Matthew 7:15-20
15)Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16)You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17)So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18)A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree produce good fruit. 19)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20) So then you will know them by their fruits.

2.b.)Matthew 24:11, 24
11Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.
24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if posssible, even the elect.

2.c.) Acts 20:26-36
26) "Therefore, I testify to you this day, that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27) For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. 28) Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29) I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you not sparing the flock; 30) and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31) Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears. 32) And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33)I have coveted no one's silver, or gold or clothes. 34) You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my own needs and to the men who were with me. 35) In everything I showed you by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive. 36) When he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.

2. d. 2 Timothy 3: 1-13
1) But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2)For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, reviles, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3) unloving irreconciable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4) treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5) holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied it's power; Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses 7) always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8) Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of deprave mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9)But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes and Jambres' folly was also. 10) Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, 11) persecutions and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured and out of them all the Lord recued me! 12) Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13) But evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

2.e. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

2. f. Philipians 3:17-19
17 Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. 18 For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, 19 whose end is destruction whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.

2.g.2 Timothy 4:1-4
1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled; they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

Wow, quite a group of people, huh? I was going to say quite a little group of people, but with tears, like Paul I feel there is a lot of them. It is a scary world out there and if you have trouble distinguishing them, compare them to the people in your bible. Look at their fruits, not just what they do or say in public, but what you learn about their private lives. Don't be in a hurry to follow just anyone. And they will tickle your ears at first, but listen carefully. You who have the Holy Spirit, will begin to see and hear "watch words". Pay attention. Remember love one another, that's how we will be known. <><

The study of JOHN

one more quick entry, one of my other friends is going to start John with Kathy and I. I am so very excited to have her join us. I will keep everyone posted as to our progress. <><

day 5

Lesson 5 day 5 is spent reading was the commentaries say about chapter 2 verses 1-10.

Father, thank You for being so very patient with me that I am still here, learning more and more of Your precepts. If I apply Your grace to everything I say and every aspect of my life, You will say Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant. Remind me daily that, that is exactly what I am and why I am here. As Your servant to this very needy world that is spiraling quickly out of control. Thinking of all the people who have died without your saving grace, still waiting for the Judgment day, already removed from Your presence, and now knowing the error of their ways and having no hope to change, breaks my heart for the ones still here and still blinded to the truth. Whose hearts are of stone, thinking they have the world by the string and not seeing that the string is badly frayed and becoming more and more damaged, thinner and thinner. God help them, and me to be a better servant to them. <><

day 4

Verse 1 False prophets also; that is, in ancient times, when the true prophets, referred to in the 2 Peter 2:1, made their predictions. For various allusions to these false prophets, see Jer. 28:15-17. Ezek. 13: 22:22, 25, 28.--Privily; privately, by stealth.--Damnable heresies; that is, heresies fatal to the welfare of the soul.--Denying the Lord; denying him as their Lord and Master.
Verse 2 Many shall follow, &c. Men never have so great a power and influence for evil, as when they introduce immoralities and sin under the cloak and defence of some perverted form of religious doctrine. This is fanatical vice, the worst, most corrupting, and most dangerous form in which vice ever appears,--as the history of Christianity in all ages will testify. It is on, this account that heresy is denounced in the New Testament in such strong terms of reprobation. For heresy is not honest error. It is the hypocritical perversion of religious truth to the purposes of licentiousness and sin.--The way of truth; true religion.
Verse 3 Feigned words; artful and hypocritical pretences.--Make merchandise of you. Judas made merchandise of his Master, betraying and sacrificing him to promote his own ends. So it is said these men should sacrifice the cause of Christ to their own selfish purposes.--Whose judgment now, &c.; that is, whose judgment and condemnation shall come upon them soon and suddenly.
Verse 4 The angels that sinned. Another allusion to angels, as having rebelled against God, and incurred his terrible retribution, is found in Jude 1:6.
Verse 5 The old world; the world before the flood.--Noah the eighth person; that is, Noah with seven others. Noah was a preacher of righteousness, inasmuch as he set an example of obedience, and made efforts, in various ways, to warn and to save his generation. (Hebrews 11:7.)
Verse 7 Filthy conversation; corrupt and wicked conduct.
Verse 8 Vexed his righteous soul; felt perpetually displeased and troubled.
Verse 9 The Lord knoweth, &c. This is the inference from what precedes. That is, if the Lord spared not the rebel angels, nor the old world, nor the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, but brought terrible judgments upon them for their sins, while he saved Noah and his family, and Lot,--then the Christian might be assured that he would still continue to protect the good and condemn the wicked.
Verse 10 To speak evil of dignities; of authority and power above them, which they ought to regard with respect and submission. The meaning is, that they are restive and rebellious against all authority.
this I want all to read and consider in your hearts,

2 Peter 2: 20-22

20 for if after they have excaped the defilements of the world by
the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
they are again entangled in them and are overcome,
the last state has become worse for them than the first.
21 For it would be better for them not to have known
the way of righteousness, than having known it,
to turn away from the holy commandment
delivered to them.
22 It has happened to them according to the true provertb,
"A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT, AND,
A SOW, AFTER WASHING,
RETURNS TO WALLOWING IN THE MIRE."

This is what I feel like today. I am sooo glad that He looks at my heart. <>< Posted by Picasa

day 4

Day 4
1 a. I wrote out, Genesis 11:31, 12:4; 13:5-15; and 14:12-16 And recalled what I had written out in Genesis 18:16-19:38 and what I learned about Lot was that he chose the better looking land, leaving Canaan for Abram. After living there for a while, he knew what the cities held, and how sinful they were. And he stayed evidently even after he saved the angels from going into the square at night. He was taken captive, and was rescued by his uncle Abram.

1.b.
1. He was rescued by Abram
2. He was oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincibled men
3. was tormented in his soul day by day with their lawless deeds

1.c. he wasn't perfect but righteous. Although he lived among sinful men who indulged in sensuality and other ungodly behavior, he didn't participate, nor, approve. That is why he urged the 2 men to come to his home and not stay in the town square. And as hunny pointed out, he could have moved.

2.a. from Genesis 6:8 But Noah found favorin the eyes of the Lord. 9 ...Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.
2.b. Ezekiel 9 God explained what He was going to do and why.
2.c. Ezekiel 14 Evidently they didn't remember what had just happened (chap. 6) and He was warning them again.
2.d. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12 they were being afflicted. But Paul was assuring them that if they weren't being afflicted, they probably weren't living right. And it was known by other churches and by God. They weren't alone.

3. 2 Peter 3:7 But the present heavens and earth by His word are being preserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

I have heard the truths and I know them. I will stay strong and faithful until my days are fulfilled. Then I will stand before the righteous God and lift my eyes to Jesus, my hope, my Savior, my strength and my Intercessor, and be judged and rewarded for what I did with the number of days that He gave me.

4. It may seem that men get away with their actions but, just like me, they will stand before that same righteous Judge and answer for what they did with their days.
