day 1

lesson 5
day 1
question 1
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter;
7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men
8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),
9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,
10 and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority.
Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties,

question2

6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,
7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
Strange=> heteros...another of another kind or sort.

question 3
a.1. Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

a.2. Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God sang for joy?
b.Genesis 6:1-8
1 Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them,
2 that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.
3 Then the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; never the less his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those are the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
5 then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man whas great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And the Lord was sorry that He made man on earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
7 The Lord said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky, for I am sorry that I have made them."
8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

3.c. I believe it was probably true. He could have spared all the animals, but He chose the ones to send to the ark. Noah didn't go out and capture them.

4.a. 1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring to us God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
19 in which also He went and made proclaimation to the spirits now in prison,
20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.

They were the sons of God
saw that the daughters of men were beautiful
abandoned their proper abode
took wives for themselves

4.b. man and the angels (who fell) have in their thought and hearts, evil.

LET YOUR LITTLE LIGHT SHINE!!

Amazing Grace

I just heard that old song on the radio early this morning, "Amazing Grace". I stopped my study, and signed it. When I think about the condition of the world today, with war and rumors of war, with earthquakes shaking cities, and the oceans roaring with sunami's, I think of all my loved ones who are only one breath away from an eternal judgment, not to heaven but hell, I feel such an urgency to tell them again. A free gift is being offered. You would think that in a time when folks are looking for anything that they can get free, not costing them anything, but free for the asking, they would run to the nearest altar and need only ask with a believing and repentant heart for their free gift. It was paid for at such a high cost. I have been studying the gospels the last few days and what a wonderful book that would give us all the instructions needed for a life lived victoriously for Him. I hope you go to His house today, visit with your brethren, and lift your hands, bend your knee and bow your head before a loving and righteous God. <><

p.s. I think we are going to have 2 and maybe 3 deaf people at church today. I hope Cody is going to be there to sign the service.

Woe to the computer!!

“Whence comes this idea that if what we are doing is fun, it can't be God's will? The God who made giraffes, a baby's fingernails, a puppy's tail, a crooknecked squash, the bobwhite's call, and a young girl's giggle, has a sense of humor. Make no mistake about that.”
— Catherine Marshall

I hope to get my computer back tomorrow. Brian B. replaced the mother board and I am hoping that it will be a permanent "cure".

We are studying Amos in our Sunday morning service. I have felt a couple of times that Amos was speaking to America directly. Pray for our country, our leaders, and for our service people. <><

Day 3 thru 5

I received this in my e-mail: "De t’ings dat yo’ li’bleTo read in de Bible—It ain’t necessarily so." Ira Gershwin This was left on my site on the first day I started doing my study here. I accidently deleted it and the system had already noted it as moderated. I don't happen to agree with Mr. Gershwin but I still like the music.

This is an observation of 2 Peter 1:12-2:22 I put key words and phrases in Bold to stand out.

12 Therefore (this word tells us why he is saying what he is saying) I shall always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you.
13 And I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder,
14 knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is immenent, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
15 And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you may be able to call these things to mind.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His Majesty.
17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My Beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"--
18 And we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shing in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation,
21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will but men moved bythe Holy Spirit spoke from God.
2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned.
3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
4For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly ;
6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly thereafter;
7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men,
8(for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day with their lawless deeds).
9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment.
10and especially those who indulgethe flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self -willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties.
11 Whereas, angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord.
12But these like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed,
13 suffering wrong, as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are stains and blemishes releling in their deceptions, as they carouse with you,
14 having eyes full of adultry and that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children;
15 forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,
16 but he received a rebuke for his own transgression; for a dumb donkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the maddness of the prophet.
17 These are springs without water, and mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved.
18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desire, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error,
19 Promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.
20 For if they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandments delivered to them.
22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A dog returns to it's own vomit," and "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire."

We have read the instructions and warnings and we know the truth. Blessed are we who choose to hear and obey . <><

Day 2

question 1 Matt. 16:27-17:9
27For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and will then recompense every man according to his deeds.
28 Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.
17:1 And six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his (James') brother, and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves.
2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shown like the sun, and His garment became as white as light.
3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
4 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here;if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
5While he saw still speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice out of the cloud saying, "This is My Beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!"
6 And when the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were much afraid.
7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, "Arise, and do not be afraid.
8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus Himself alone.
9 And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.
Having been there with Jesus, James and John, he personally was a witness to the transfiguration.

question 2
They were to tell of the vision after Christ rose from the dead. That wa a direct instruction of Jesus Christ. And the testimony was to be believed if more than 1 person was a witness.

question 3
They (Israel) have always had the Scripture, but living in a time when the prophesies are being fulfilled, it assures them to know only God could make known to the prophets of old the truth they see fulfilling in their lifetime. Not stories written by men who assuredly loved God, but dictated from a Holy God to obedient men, our future and with the instructions we are not just stumbling and bumbling around in circles but walking hand in hand with the saints in our lives the narrow wat to God's kingdom.

question 4
It is contrasting a life lived in godliness applying the virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverence, godliness, brotherly kindness and love to every thought and deed.
Compared with lives lived in sensuality, greed, unrighteousness, indulging the flesh, corrupt desired, despising all authority, daring, self-willed, not fearing judgment and punishment.

#5 commentary work

#6 God said to me, "Be careful what you hear." I remember that little song: be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, be careful little mouth what you say, and be careful little feet where you go, and also be careful little heart what you love.

well, beloved, I pray that you have had a profitable day, and that you are storing up your profits somewhere other than this sad, sad, world. Remember to love one another. It's how they will know you are one of His. Baaah, Baaah <><

this weeks bible study lesson 4

I gave up driving to Indy for my Monday morning bible study. So here it is for next weeks class. I do it until I finish or until the next opportunity. All answers that are my opinion are in bold italics like this.

Day One question 1 a. What does 2 Peter 1:2-11 say?

Since we have the experience of knowing God and Jesus, the hope we will have is grace and peace in abundance. and because He granted (thru mercy) to us thru His divine power, life and godliness, promises, that we might partake of His divine nature. And in our faith He supplies virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. By applying these qualities to all parts of our lives we will be useful & fruitful. Anyone who lacks these qualities, is blind& not looking to their future, having forgotten his purification from their old self, being sinful as a way of life. So live like you are worth the price that your Savior, Jesus Christ, paid. Worthy of your calling being chosen by God before the world began. As long as you practice these qualities , you will never stumble or cause anyone else to stumble either. And because of your obedience, entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord & Savior will be abundantly supplied to you.

for 1. b. I wrote out the scripture we had to look up: James 2:14-26

14 What use is it, my brethren, if a man says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
17 Even so faith, if it has no works is dead, being by itself.
18 But someone may well say, "you have faith, and I have works; show me your faith without the works and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe and shudder.
20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?
21 Was not Abraham, our father, justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;
23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to Him as righteousness," and he was called the friend of God.
24 You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone.
25 And in the same way was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works, when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Now I know you all think I am crazy for doing this. But what happens is when I underline certain words in different colors, it slows down not only, my reading but my thinking.

Day One question 2: Romans 2:4-10

4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and forebearance and patience not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
5 But because of your stubborness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

now I would put a little clock by this verse with an arrow pointing to the right, because it refers to a day in the future. I also put a P in the margin when there is a promise in the verse.

6 who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:
8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
9 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek.
10 but glory and honor and peace to every man who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Day one question 2 A.
1John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
question 2 B.
2 John 8 Watch yourselves, that you might not lose what we have accomplished, but you may receive a full reward.

Whenever there is a "Watch" or a 'Beware" I put a little red lightening bolt or a W next to the verse because it is trying to warn me of something that is important.also if the verse is an instruction I put a capital "I" in the column in front of the verse

question 2 C.
Mark 4: 20-25
20 And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; they hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold."
21 And He was saying to them, "a lamp is not bought to be put under a peck-measure, is it or under a bed? Is it not bought to be put on a lampstand?
22 For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it should come to light.
23 "If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.
24 And He was saying to them, "Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it shall be measured to you; and more shall be given you besides.
question 2 D.
Luke 12: 42-48
42 And the Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and sensible steward, whom his master will put in charge of his servants, to give them their rations at the proper time?
43 Blessed is the slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.
44 Truly I say to you, that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
45 But if that slave says in his heart, 'my master will be a long time in coming.' and begins to beat the slaves, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk;
46 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him, and at an hour he does not know , and will cut him in pieces, and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
47 And that slave who knew his master's will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, shall receive many lashes,
48 but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. And from everyone who has been given much shall much be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.

day one #3
That faith is the key but if we don't have good works in keeping with that faith, our entrance won't be as glorious as it could or should be.

day one #4
It impresses on me that I have been bestowed with everything that it takes to complete what God expects of me.

I am not putting what the commentaries say about those verses on here.

Just mark the tests and make any remarks i feel are appropriate. i will be teaching 1 day a week and it will be for the entire school year of o6-07. I feel so humbled by their trust. not being a teacher or a parent who home schooled. i pray that God will bless my hands to His service. <><

o.k. hunny and I http://public.propertylinx.com/templates/media.asp?Uid=2544099&MlsNum=2641110made an offer for this:

Freedom...

Everyone should remember that freedom is not free. It has always come at a high price. And I do mean high. Someone has always had to die before it came.

Some people say that Christians are bound by our religion. It is not true. Blood was always shed for freedom. We are not bound by our faith. We were freed from the bondage of sin to which so many are still tied . Resolveing to quit but going back to again, and again, and again. I am so thankful to be free to choose righteousness. Not that I am righteous in myself, but made righteous by the blood of Christ who was slain for me, and not just me but all the rest of the world. Even if you don't believe in Him, He still died for you. Have a wonderful 4th. And be careful.

Prayers.....

“The greatest battles are fought in the mind.”
— Casey Treat

Little Darby is still with us. I was told they are keeping her in a medical coma most of the time. They bring her out a couple of times a week. It is still a great time of needed prayer.

Well.....Larry and I went and looked at a house on Saturday. I sure am not looking forward to trying to pack again. It kind of scares me. After we got into this apartment, I was in a very weak physical state. And it's only been 2 months. whew.......I am having a hard time with just the idea of another big move. But we are still praying about what we should do. I rely greatly on the fact that the Lord knows the plans He has for me and if He wants me to move, it will happen, and if He wants me to stay here for a while longer, well, here I am. <><
